Readers here in South Florida have probably seen pictures in magazines of supermodel Heidi Klum renewing her vows with the singer Seal. The two, who were married for seven years, would renew their nuptials each anniversary. For all outward purposes, they seemed very much in love.

So it was something of a surprise, then, when it was announced recently that the two were separating. They have not given a reason for why they are divorcing, but they did release a joint statement saying they did not want their high-asset divorce to impact their children, nor to give off the impression that they do not still hold each other in very high regard.

As we said, we do not really know why Klum and Seal are divorcing. Some have speculated that their careers got in the way. In addition to being a sought-after model, Klum is the host of the hit cable TV show "Project Runway." Seal, on the other hand, has not found similar success with his latest albums.

In any event, their story should show South Florida residents that sometimes, marriages do not work out. It is a myth that every marriage that ends in divorce was terrible from the start. Sometimes, people change over time and simply realize it is not the best course of action to remain married.
