Morning Joe host and wife divorce after 12 years of marriage

Just because the marriage is over and a couple is getting a divorce doesn’t mean it has to be a nasty one. All too often the most sensationalized divorces in Florida are the ones that involve the most animosity, arguments and pain. This may give the impression that there is no such thing as an amicable divorce.

Joe Scarborough, host of the popular morning show Morning Joe, and his second wife are now officially divorced after 12 years of marriage. The news comes as Scarborough and his co-host are in talks to take over another show on NBC. By keeping their divorce a secret, the couple has been able to avoid the magnifying glass of today’s media. Papers filed in the divorce reveal the host makes over $99,000 a week and that his newly single wife will be receiving $30,000 a month for the next five years and $25,000 a month for two years after that. The couple has two young children, a 10-year-old and a 5-year-old, who they are raising together.

A complex asset divorce can be made all the more difficult if the parties involved are out to hurt one another rather than end one phase of their life and move on to the next. As two adults, particularly in cases where there are significant assets involved, the couple can create unique arrangements for themselves post divorce. Scarborough and his ex-wife still reside in the same home, essentially creating separate wings for themselves with rules governing contact between the two. This allows the couple to maintain a central home for the children while still maintaining their separate lives.

Divorce does not always mean the end of a relationship. When there are children or extensive and complex assets involved the divorced couple may remain connected in some fashion for the rest of their lives.
